SAY YES WHEN YOU MEAN YES AND NO WHEN YOU MEAN NO. ANYTHING BEYOND THAT IS FROM THE EVIL ONE. (Matthew 5:37)

This biblical saying is part of the Beatitudes which announced religious happiness for the anawim (those who are bowed down), the poor of every sort: The vulnerable, marginalized, socio-economically oppressed, impoverished, those of lowly status without earthly power. In fact, they depended totally on God for whatever they owned.

Though Name Calling May Seem Like a Quick Way to Bring Truth to the Forefront, It Can Also Insult and Demean Others Resulting in Distrust and Disbelief. Christianity Calls for us to be Mindful of How Powerful Our Words are and Empathetic to How They Effect People.

 

Name calling has been around since humans could talk. The Bible, in the Book of Genesis, has Noah cursing his grandson, Canaan, in Chapter 9, Verse 25 when he says: “Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves shall be to his brothers.”  It had to do with indecent sexual practices in the Canaanite religion.

OLYMPIAN ATHLETES WHO WORK HARD TO BE THE BEST REMIND US OF WHAT GOD GIVES US TO LIVE THE GOSPEL!

Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, in his opening remarks at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics said: “We are part of something bigger than ourselves. We are part of an event that unites the world in peace.

DEATH THOUGH DIFFICULT GIVES US HOPE TO BE WITH GOD IF WE FOLLOW HIS WAYS!

This last week was particularly difficult because three women our family we knew died in that period. It was not a surprise in that all three have been suffering over a prolonged period. The time, however, did not give us an opportunity to grieve for more than a day or two to pay our full respect to each as we could.

SOCIAL MEDIA INFORMS! BUT DOES IT GIVE YOU INSIGHTS INTO GOD?

Social Media, no matter how we receive it, is a reminder to us that decisions we make allow us to accept, reject or ignore how we may live our life. It invariably provides us with multitudes of topics that perk our curiosity so much so at times that we cannot function until we seek an answer with which we can live.

CHILDREN ARE A GIFT FROM GOD! PARENTS ARE CALLED BY GOD TO CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN WITH GREAT JOY!

Parenting is a decision that can bring boundless joy if parents accept the great responsibility of what God’s gift is calling them to do by caring for a person for their entire lives in either blood or adoptive relationships. The difficulty lies in how a parent defines what that means to her or  him.

GOD COMFORTS THE SUFFEREING WHEN THEY REACH OUT IN FAITH

 “Praised be God, the Father of mercies, and the God of all consolation! He comforts us in all our afflictions and thus enables us to comfort those who are in trouble with the same consolation we have received from Him.”

FEAR NOT! TRUST THAT GOD IS HERE FOR US NO MATTER WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR LIFE!

 

“Who can this be that the wind and the sea obey Him”?                      (Mark 4:41)

Daily, news media updates us with extraordinary weather disasters across the United States that range from wildfires to flooding, tornadoes to hurricanes and from heat domes to large hail stones. People are being hurt and dying, property is being destroyed and such vast areas are affected that may never be able to be restored even with the help of federal funds.

Two thousand years ago the itinerant preacher known as Jesus, son of Joseph, the carpenter, and his wife, Mary, lived a simple life in a rural area of Galilee in northern Israel. Fishing and agriculture were the two main industries. It should be no surprise that Jesus talked to the people in this time about interests of which they were familiar, but we are not.
